REFINISHING.
Longevity for Generations of Athletes.
Proper care, including regular cleaning and maintenance, prevents damage from dirt and moisture, prolonging the life of the flooring. By investing in routine refinishing and care, facilities can ensure their gymnasium remains a safe and attractive environment for all sports activities, ultimately supporting the health and performance of athletes.
Our Process.
-
Start by removing all furniture and thoroughly cleaning the floor. Use a drum or belt sander with coarse grit to level high spots and strip the old finish, then work through progressively finer grits to smooth scratches and even the surface. Use an edge sander and orbital buffer for areas the big sander can’t reach, and vacuum between passes to remove dust. Repair gaps or gouges as needed, then use a tack cloth to pick up remaining particles before staining or finishing. Maintain consistent sanding overlap and strict dust control for a durable, professional result.
-
Buffing a wood gym floor begins with thorough cleaning and inspection to remove dust, gum, and surface debris, then a professional-grade buffer fitted with the appropriate abrasive pad or screen is used to scuff the finish and smooth minor scratches and scuffs. The operator works in overlapping passes, keeping the machine moving to avoid uneven spots and heat buildup, and vacuuming between passes to eliminate residue. After buffing, the surface is wiped with a tack cloth and inspected; if the profile is acceptable, one or more thin coats of finish are applied evenly and allowed to dry to restore gloss, protect the wood, and extend the life of the playing surface.
-
After sanding a wood gym floor, thoroughly remove all dust with a high-efficiency vacuum and tack cloths before applying any coating. Choose a durable, sport-grade finish—typically a water-based polyurethane or urethane-acrylic—applied in thin, even coats with a roller or floor finish applicator to avoid lap marks and bubbles. Allow proper dry time between coats, lightly abrading with fine screen or sandpaper between applications for adhesion, then apply the final topcoat for gloss and abrasion resistance. Ensure adequate ventilation and follow manufacturer recommendations for cure time before returning the gym to activity.
Protect Your Investment.
Gym floor refinishing restores surface appearance and performance by removing scratches, dents, and worn finishes, creating a smoother, safer playing surface that improves traction and reduces injury risk. It prolongs the life of the wood by sealing and protecting against moisture and wear, lowers long-term maintenance costs, and enhances light reflection to brighten the facility. Regular refinishing also preserves court line visibility and boosts the professional look of the space, supporting player confidence and facility value.
